Miswak Stick - Natural Toothbrush, Individually Sealed

A miswak is a twig you chew into a brush. Cut from the arak tree (Salvadora persica), it has been used for oral care across the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia for well over a thousand years - long enough that the World Health Organization has taken an interest in it as a traditional oral hygiene tool.

No paste. No plastic handle. No charger. One stick, about 15cm long, individually sealed.

How to use it

1. Trim or peel about 1cm of bark from one end.
2. Chew that end gently until the fibres separate into soft bristles.
3. Brush as you normally would, in short strokes.
4. Rinse it, let it air dry, and trim back to fresh fibres every couple of days.

One stick typically lasts a couple of weeks with daily trimming.

Why people use one

• Nothing to plug in or throw away. A twig composts. A plastic brush head does not.
• Genuinely portable. No paste means no liquids bag at the airport, and it works without a sink.
• No foam, no mint. The taste is mild, slightly peppery and faintly bitter - which some people much prefer to toothpaste.

Being straight with you

We are not going to claim this whitens teeth, prevents cavities or replaces your dentist. There is real published research on miswak and oral hygiene, and the WHO has acknowledged its traditional use, but the evidence is mixed and this is a natural product with no fluoride in it.

Most dentists would say: use it if you like it, but do not drop fluoride toothpaste on its account, and keep going to your check-ups. If you have gum disease, recent dental work, or any oral health concern, ask your dentist first.

Do I need toothpaste with it?
Traditionally no. Many people use a miswak during the day and a normal brush with fluoride paste at night.

How long does one last?
Roughly two weeks with daily trimming, depending how hard you chew.

How should I store it?
Rinse after use and let it dry in open air. Do not seal a damp one back into plastic.
